Put your item on Trasch, not in the trash!

We at Trasch don't like things going to waste. In fact, we get quite upset when we see furniture, books and equipment rotting away in storage cupboards, doing little else other than collecting dust. And we get positively annoyed when these sorts of things have been discarded in skips simply because they've outlived their use with their existing owners. Isn't it far better that these things find a new home where they will be used and cherished, rather than stored in perpetuity or worse, thrown in a landfill site? That's our belief anyway, and it's the reason why we set up Trasch.

What is Trasch?

Trasch is a not-for-profit web site, whose purpose is to help facilitate the trading or swapping of unwanted books, furniture, and other equipment between schools, colleges and other educational institutes up and down the country. The idea is that if a school no longer needs a certain piece of equipment, instead of disposing of it, they advertise it here for free. Schools may ask a charge for the item (for example, to cover delivery costs), or offer it for free. Either way, we don't want a penny from either the buyer or seller. All we want is for the item to go to a good home, and not end up being incinerated or dumped in landfill.

Our aims

We hope that through our users' use of our web site, we can help to reduce the amount of waste produced by schools throughout the UK, and the costs incurred in removing these unwanted items. We hope that we can also help schools to save even more money by acquiring books and equipment for free or nearly nothing from other schools that no longer need them. We hope that we can help schools to raise funds by selling unwanted items through our web site. But for all this to happen, we really need your help. Get your school to sign-up and start advertising its unwanted items. Or have a look through the existing listings and see if there is anything you need. You might just be able to save some money, and the environment at the same time, too. And you'll make us all very proud.

Our Idea is Simple. Our Task is Great.

At Trash, we know/believe that Schools and Colleges are storing unwanted equipment in cupboards, under stage areas, teachers rooms and in the caretakers office, because we just don’t want to throw away good equipment that is surplus to requirements. It may be that you have recently purchased new equipment, but have you ever thought that another school may be looking for one of your unwanted items? 

Another school may not have as much budget this year and would really benefit from some unwanted chairs or desks, gym equipment, library books or just about anything you throw away or store.

With the planet getting bogged down with our wasted goods and throw away items, Trasch believes that it must be better to try and offer your equipment to another needy school/college.

Ethics

You may already be saving the planet by recycling paper and printer cartridges, but why not clear out that store cupboard, take some photos and log on to www.trasch.co.uk register and offer your goods online for free, or if you feel it’s a rather super duper piano that is a little tired, but worth a few pennies, you might just get some money back into your own budget to spend on new equipment.

Save the waste and share your goods within the education community.

There may be a school out there looking for your dusty wooden table with the ink pot and a few graffiti stains!  They may even give you a tenner for it!  Give it a go...
